Ministerial Visit

Britannia Royal Naval College recently hosted a short acquaint visit by Mr Gerald Howarth, the Under Secretary of State for International Security and Strategy.

He took the opportunity to have an informal meeting with a number of the International cadets presently under training at BRNC.

The College welcomes Young Officers from over twenty countries some of whom undertake English language training if required before moving onto the 28 week long Initial Officer Training (IOT) course alongside their RN counterparts. For those passing out this month from IOT, which includes officers from Nigeria, Kuwait, Jordan and Trinidad and Tobago, that has meant experiencing the challenge of leadership training on Dartmoor with four inches of snow on the ground and temperatures well below zero.

Commander Andy Hancock, Commander BRNC commented, “when Mr Howarth left us he had a clear understanding of the twenty-five percent  international training output of BRNC, recognising the huge investment that gives to international relations.”
