Tackling Dartmoor Tackling Dartmoor

For the cadets of the new entry division Cornwall their first venture onto Dartmoor took place two weeks before the assessed leadership exercise as they spent a day working in support of the Dartmoor Preservation Association (DPA) for their assigned outreach project.

After navigating their way through some fairly thick fog the officer cadets worked alongside the regular volunteers of the DPA clearing scrub from Leedon Hill, a site with a significant amount  of Bronze Age archaeology.

Fiona Senior of the DPA said “We are extremely grateful for the efforts of the cadets. Their sense of humour and team work ensured we achieved a lot in a fairly short time. We know they are due up onto the moor for some arduous leadership training in a few weeks time and we all wish them well for that.”
