Winter Chill Parade Winter Chill Parade

Over three-hundred Young Officers mustered for the end of term Passing-Out Parade at Britannia Royal Naval College in mid December.

Friends and families gathered around the ramps surrounding the parade ground to witness the event all very aware of just how bitterly cold it was.

Vice Admiral Richard Ibbotson, The Deputy Commander-in-Chief Fleet, a former Commodore BRNC and the Britannia Association Chair of Trustees, was the inspecting officer and took the salute as the whole parade marched past.

Soon after the inspection of the parade had started, a Hawk Aircraft flew up the river and over BRNC, followed by a Mark 5 Seaking helicopter from Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose which flew east to west across the front of the college trailing a white ensign.

When Vice Admiral Ibbotson addressed the parade he reminded the Young Officers and all assembled that the brand new Astute Class submarine, HMS Ambush, was being commissioned that day and to recognise that they were at the start of an exciting, demanding career serving their country.
