The young men and women who joined the Royal Navy at Britannia Royal Naval College in September last year are now spending ten weeks completing the Initial Fleet Time element of their training. This provides a comprehensive introduction to all aspects of life at sea in an operational warship.

During the coming weeks Officer Cadets and Divisional Officers (DO) are embarked in HM Ships Albion, Ocean and Campbeltown. Dauntless Division is in the amphibious assault ship HMS Albion which is undergoing a month-long intensive period of assessed sea training to prepare for her next deployment.

Swiftly after their arrival, the cadets of Dauntless Division were given the opportunity to consolidate their training from the basic sea survival course with full involvement with fire fighting exercises. They also took an active part in some role play as casualties sporting fake blood and being transferred through the ship whilst strapped into a stretcher.

Captain Shane Green of the Mercian Regiment is the Dauntless DO. He said "there is no better way to learn than practical involvement with training exercises. Everyone on board has made us very welcome and the cadets are looking forward to a busy and varied programme."
