Britannia Royal Naval College has a new Commodore at the helm as Commodore Simon Williams assumed command on Tuesday 22nd February.

Commodore Williams joined the Royal Navy at BRNC in 1978 before reading for an honours degree in Systems and Management at City University, London.

A career warfare officer to date he has commanded the Hunt Class Mine Countermeasures vessel, HMS Brecon and the type 22 frigates HMS Sheffield and then more recently, in 2005, HMS Cornwall.

On taking command Commodore Williams said “It is an enormous privilege to take command of Britannia Royal Naval College at this time.  The College has a world class reputation underpinned by a talented team of naval and civilian staff, and I intend that we keep it that way.  As a local man with family in Dartmouth I am looking forward to continuing the strong links with the local community."

He succeeds Commodore Jake Moores who has now taken up the appointment of Deputy to Rear Admiral Submarines and Commodore Faslane Flotilla based in Faslane, Scotland.
